In the fascinating setting of Val Gardena, gorgeous Dolomites region nestled against the mountains, Christmas time enlights with magic its three villages, S. Cristina, Ortisei and Selva Val Gardena, with beautiful Christmas markets.

With a highly evocative atmosphere, as the snow falls down whitening the streets, during the month of December Val Gardena offers something that is absolutely unmissable. In fact, each of its vilagges host a different Christmas market, even if they are all characterised by unique scents and flavours, such as the smell of mulled wine or spiced bread, but also by the Christmas carols that echo all over the city and the beautiful themed lights.

Just a step away from Bolzano (or Bozen, as they call the city here), Val Gardena’s Christmas markets know for sure how to satisfy everyone’s tastes.

Selva Val Gardena

Of course we couldn’t start the list with any other city than Selva Val Gardena, where our Hotel Somont is placed.
This magical village offers to tourists and locals a peculiar attraction, alongside the market itself with its variety of products. The main street is in fact embellished by a funicular railway covered by lights, also with little wooden cabins hanging from the cables themselves.

Santa Cristina

If you haven’t been to S. Cristina’s Christmar market, then it’s time to do that. What are you going to find there? A lot of handmade products, clothes, foods and beverages… Basically everything you could wish for your Christmas shopping.
A special mention goes to Weihnachtszelten, a local dessert. You cannot miss it!

Ortisei

The village of Ortisei knows for sure how to amaze its visitors; for this reason, every year it tranforms itself into an entire Christmas village.
Besides the wooden booths, which offer more than 1000 present ideas, Ortisei aims to touch both children and grown-ups. The smells and tastes of local dishes will guide you through your tour around the village, while the many themed events will make unique every single day.
All the children will also have the chance to send their personal letter to Santa Claus through the special mailbox located in Piazza Stetteneck.
